Police used water cannon vehicles and tear gas to disperse crowds as thousands of protesters marched against the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in Diyarbakir on Sunday, accusing the government of failing to offer a strong response to the twin bombings that rocked Ankara the day before. At least 95 people were killed and more than 245 left injured in a double explosion in Ankara on Saturday morning. The blasts rocked the area near Ankara Central railway station, Turkey's busiest train hub. The bombs targeted the venue of the 'Labour, Peace, Democracy' rally, which was scheduled to begin at 10:00 local time (0700 GMT). The rally was planned by Turkey's biggest trade union in protest against the Turkish government's policy towards the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
