Ships and aircraft of the Egyptian Navy and Air Forces continued to participate in a search operation for the missing EgyptAir flight MS804 in the Mediterranean Sea, with the Ministry of Defence releasing footage of the mission, Friday. French, Greek and US forces are also assisting with the operation.
"A body part, two seats and a suitcase or more have been recovered exactly within the area where search was taking place, but slightly southern from the spot when airplane's signal was lost," said Greek Defence Minister Panos Kammenos during a press conference on Friday.
EgyptAir Flight MS804 was expected to arrive in Cairo at 03:15 (01:15 GMT) on Thursday after taking off from the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris at 23:09 (21:09 GMT). The plane was carrying 56 passengers and 10 crew members on board, according to flight tracking services. The airline also said that the Airbus A320 lost contact at around 02:30 (00:30 GMT), 10 miles (16 km) inside Egyptian airspace and was last registered at an altitude of 37,000 feet (11,300 metres). Greek Minister of Defence Panos Kammenos said that the plane made several sharp turns while losing altitude before it disappeared at an Athens press conference earlier on Thursday.
