Belgium: Stoltenberg touts enhanced NATO forward presence in the east

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said he expects the alliance's defence ministers to "agree to enhance our forward presence in the eastern part of our alliance," during a press conference in Brussels on Wednesday.
Speaking ahead of a meeting of EU defence ministers in the Belgian capital, Stoltenberg explained the reasoning for the enlarged deployment. "This will send a clear signal: NATO will respond as one to any aggression against any ally," he stated.
On the agenda for the meeting are a range of issues including the enhancement of the NATO Response Force (NRF), the alliance’s defence budget, closer cooperation between NATO and member nations, and the threat of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).
