Netherlands: Arrests in The Hague as 'anti-police brutality' protests continue

16 03.07.2015 Инфо

Arrests were made in The Hague late Thursday evening on the fourth day of unrest in the iconic capital of South Holland. Undercover police were joined by riot police and could be seen patting down, searching and pushing protesters onto police buses. The protests come after the death of 42-year-old Mitch Henriquez, who was detained by police on Saturday, June 27. Originally from the Dutch-Caribbean island of Aruba, Henriquez was reportedly visiting family in the city when he was arrested at a music festival. Authorities including Mayor Jozias van Aartsen have called for calm in the city while an official investigation has been launched into the death of Henriquez.
