SOT, Santiago Solari, Real Madrid head coach (Spanish): "Today I assume the risks of the line-up. That is clearly my responsibility. I consider it necessary to give minutes (inaudible), to give minutes to young players, minutes for players who are recovering from injuries and have to get out of injuries. We obviously expected another result, it ended up this way, so I take responsibility."
CSKA Moscow head coach Viktor Goncharenko said his team beating Real Madrid 3-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday would "go down in history" as the Spanish team suffered its biggest ever home defeat in Europe, during a press conference in Madrid on the same day.
CSKA's win against Real marks their second straight victory over the Champions League holders, with goals scored by Feder Chalov, Georgi Shchennikov and Arnor Sigurdsson.
"We were magnificent in today's game, all this will go down in history for us. To win big at such a stadium, to beat Real is a great achievement for us," said Goncharenko.
"We obviously expected another result, it ended up this way, so I take responsibility," said Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari.
CSKA's victory was not enough to secure them a place in the Europa League. Despite its loss, Real Madrid still managed to nab a first place in group G.
