Germany: Munich mayor opens first keg of Oktoberfest 2015

Mayor of Munich Dieter Reiter opened the first keg of Oktoberfest 2015 at 12:00 PM local time in the Scottenhammel beer tent, Saturday. The first beer marks the beginning of the 16 day event, which will host 606 companies with 16 tents, beer and food caterers, showmen, rides and merchants. Reiter managed to insert the tap into the barrel with two strikes, an improvement on last years effort when it took him four attempts. He was accompanied by Second Mayor of Munich Josef Schmid and CSU President Horst Seehofer. About 13,000 have been employed for this year's festivities, while more than six million visitors are expected to celebrate the world's largest outdoor beer festival.
