SOT, Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State: "I said at this morning's memorial that the US was re-committing to the cause of justice for those killed in the AMIA [Asociacion Mutual Israelita Argentina] bombing and I mean it. Today I am announcing two actions against a top Hezbollah Operative for his role in the attack. Salman Raouf Salman served as the underground coordinator for the AMIA bombing and remains a wanted man who continues plotting terrorism on behalf of Hezbollah. The State Department Rewards for Justice program is offering up to $7 million for information leading to his identification or his arrest. And the United States Department of Treasury is also designating Salman as a especially-designated global terrorist, which denies him access to the United States' financial system. More broadly, the Trump administration has intensified US action against Iran and its terrorist proxies worldwide."

Washington has hit an alleged Hezbollah operative Salman Raouf Salman with sanctions over his alleged role in the AMIA bombing, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced during his opening remarks in the 'Western hemispheric anti-terrorism summit' in Buenos Aires on Friday.
"The State Department Rewards for Justice program is offering up to $7 million for information leading to his identification or his arrest," said Pompeo who said Salman had served as the coordinator for Asociacion Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) bombing.
Argentinian Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie touched upon another attack, the 1992 attack on Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires saying, "That day Argentina woke up to terrorism, for a reality as raw as was the AMIA in 1994."
Earlier on Friday morning, Pompeo visited the re-built AMIA centre paying tribute to the victims a day after the 25th anniversary of the 1994 attack.
The bombing of the Jewish Community Centre represents the worst terrorist act in Argentina's history, with 85 fatalities and more than 300 people injured.
