Chile: No possible survivors as human remains found at plane crash site

SOT, Alberto Espina, Defense Minister of Chile (Spanish): "We sympathize with them, and as we have said before it is close to all of our hearts. The fact that 38 of our compatriots are being affected by the disappearance of an air force aircraft. From who, 32 were part of the Chilean air force, three of them were part of the Chilean army and three of them were civilians. However, they all had one thing in common, they were bound to Antarctica our country, to claim sovereignty. Therefore, the first that I need to express in the name of the government, the air force, and the arm forces, it's our comprehension, our support for the human drama that the families are experiencing."
SOT, Arturo Merino, General in chief of the Chilean air force (Spanish): "Alongside a series of plane wreckage that continues to be found so far, human remains have been found, which most likely belong to the passengers that were travelling on the C-130 wrecked plane. And where the subsequent forensic exploration, will allow us to determine their identity. On the other hand, the conditions in which the human remains have been found make it practically impossible for any survivors to be found on the crash site."

A Chilean rescue team has retrieved human remains at the crash site where the Chilean air force plane went missing with 38 people on board on Monday.
Chilean authorities released an official statement in Punta Arenas on Thursday, confirming that crash site belonged to the air force plane who went missing on Monday and that it had crashed on route to Antarctica for an official expedition.
General in chief of the Chilean air force commented on the status of the search party as he declared the conditions of the crash to make it "practically impossible for survivors to be found on the crash site."
