UK: Napoleon's golden pistols could fetch $1.90 million

A pair of gold-encrusted pistols gifted by Napoleon to his son were displayed at London's Sotheby's auction house, Friday ahead of their July auction. Coinciding with the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, the pistols are expected to fetch £800,000-£1.2 million (€1.1 million - €1.6 million; $1.27 million - $1.90 million). Created by gunsmith Jean Lepage, the pistols are adorned with Napoleonic emblems. These include the Imperial Eagle, the iron crown of Italy and the Emperor's personal cypher, the capitalised 'N.'
