Russia: 'ISIS terrorist' killed by NAC in Dagestan sting operation

One of the organisers behind the attempted terror attack on the Irganay hydroelectric power plant in September 2010 was killed during a special operation in the village of Gimry, Dagestan on Saturday. The preventive mission was conducted on behalf of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee of Russia (NAC). The house in which the suspect was hiding, was quickly surrounded by commandos, following a call to lay down the weapons and surrender. The militants responded by opening fire. The militant was identified as Abdul Nustafaev who was one of the leaders of the so-called Gimry bandit group and a member of the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL) since 2015, according to NAC spokesperson Vadim Druzhinin. A bomb and improvised explosive device were discovered during an inspection of Irganay hydroelectric power plant a fire broke out in September 2010 due to suspected arson. The explosives were disarmed and secured. It is still not clear whether the fire was connected to the explosives.
