Indian Air Force (IAF) inducted its first two Indian-designed fighter jets, called Tejas, into its fleet in Bangalore, Friday, 33-years after the development project began.
The induction ceremony took place in the presence of Air Marshal Jasbir Walia, with a selection of religious ceremonies and a test flight of the brand new fighter jet.
Designed by Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and built by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), the Tejas is expected to supersede the aged fleet of Russian MIG-21s in the IAF.
