SOT Yannick Post, protester: “We want to show that we care about our brothers and sisters that are suffering overseas. Also, we took this moment to address the racism that is going on in The Netherlands today, which is not as bad as in America, but it's still here. So I think that's like people are multitasking that but especially just to show our support and hopefully we can encourage the people overseas to just keep on fighting.”

SOT Katherin Paola Lampe, protester: “I usually don't like to watch videos of those being murdered or killed because it just affects me. But this time something called out to me to watch the video till the end and it broke me inside. I think for three days I cried non-stop and I kept asking myself 'What can I do? It's not my country. I cannot vote there. What can I possibly do?' And after those three days I told myself there's so much we can do. I started to donate, I started to post the links everywhere, I told my friends there is so much we can do as people and look at this where the whole other side of the world protesting over a death of an American, an African-American that should have never died, we should never know his name. He should be alive and just living his life, but yet here we are.”

SOT Levi Ommen, member of Black Lives Matter Netherlands: “Basically to solve institutionalized racism you first has to discover where it's coming from. Of course, it is racism but it's a deeply rooted problem within the society, you know within the system. So talk to people, say like what are you experiencing, talk to the people who are treated unequally by the police and ask them what's happening, talk to you police officers, give them courses on institutionalized racism. “

SOT Levi Ommen, member of Black Lives Matter Netherlands: “In the US people talked about this for centuries and there is still no change happening. So I understand why they're such, they caused riots like there are riots, but I would also add it's a way of activism, you know, like the moment that the soft activism doesn't work, the conventional activism doesn't work, people go into unconventional activism and that is what's happening right now.”

Thousands of people attended an anti-racism demo in The Hague on Tuesday, joining similar protests around the world being held in the wake of the death of African-American George Floyd.
The demonstrators can be seen with their fists raised in the air, chanting slogans such as "No justice, no peace!" and waving placards. Those in attendance could also be seen wearing facemasks and standing a safe distance from one another due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"We want to show that we care about our brothers and sisters that are suffering overseas... and hopefully we can encourage the people overseas to just keep on fighting," said one of the protesters, Yannick Post.
Protests and demonstrations have taken place across the world, having begun in the US in reaction to Floyd's death, with riots and looting also occurring in some areas.
Floyd, a Houston native, died in Minneapolis earlier this week after a police officer knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes as he was recorded saying, "I can't breathe" and "Don't kill me."
Four officers involved in the incident have since been fired. The officer who knelt on Floyd was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter on Friday.
