Turkey: Police fire rubber bullets at concert goers

Istanbul police fired rubber bullets and water cannons at crowds of people who gathered for an unauthorised public concert by political folk rock band 'Grup Yorum', Sunday. Police had earlier cordoned off the public square in the city's Bakirkoy district, where the concert was due to take place. The would-be concert-goers tried to flee the scene as police cracked down on the crowd, with helicopters patrolling above. Several people were detained, although at least one of them allegedly had nothing to do with the concert and shouted that he had been wrongly apprehended.
