Trump's Immigration Comments Divide His Rivals

Republican presidential contenders spent the long holiday weekend doing something they’d rather not- reacting to Donald Trump.
The billionaire business mogul’s comments during his June 16 announcement speech that immigrants from Mexico and elsewhere were criminals and rapists have proved sharply divisive among the crowded Republican field,. The comments drew criticism from some of his rivals and praise from others.
In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” aired Sunday, Texas Senator Ted Cruz commended Trump for bringing immigration to the forefront of the discussion. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, whose wife Columba is from Mexico, slammed Trump’s remarks while in New Hampshire. He told reporters that Trump’s views “are way out of the mainstream of what Republicans think,” calling the comments “extraordinarily ugly.”
