New Jersey senator Cory Booker offered yet another master class in how a public figure — and really, many of us — can deal with the inevitable trolls and haters on Twitter, following his appearance on the Sunday morning show Meet the Press to talk about infrastructure.
Booker explained his thinking in one tweet around the same time: "Be kind to unkind people." A little humor doesn't hurt, either.
The politician is famous for his presence on Twitter, with 1.5 million followers and a refreshingly candid mix of inspirational quotes and direct conversations with followers and constituents. While mayor of Newark, he used Twitter to find and personally help residents in his city who were struggling to shovel out mounds of snow.
