Around 100 taxi drivers met in Paris, Saturday, to prevent Uber cabs from working and to protest the rival company's existence. Official Paris taxi drivers are said to accuse their Uber rivals of operating an illegal taxi service that steals their custom. Drivers could be seen attempting to stop Uber cars from driving around and picking up customers in the area they were rallying in, as well as making 'citizen's arrests' on some Uber users. One anti-Uber protester even sat on an Uber car's bonnet while it drove a short distance away from the group. Uber was founded in March 2009 by American Travis Cordell Kalanick. As of May 2015, Uber taxis were available in in 58 countries and 300 cities worldwide.
