Russian President Vladimir Putin met with President Almazbek Atambayev of Kyrgyzstan during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday. The two leaders met to discuss the ratification process of Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, which could happen as early as the start of July. President Almazbek Atambayev expressed his hope that the country would become a "a full rights member of the union by July 1," if the other members ratify the deal. Both presidents noted the importance of their partnership, while Putin said that he was sure that any remaining "negative tendencies" will be overcome.
