Serbian Prime Minister Aleksander Vucic gave a press conference in Belgrade, Tuesday, after leaving EU accession talks in Brussels in response to Croatia's veto of Chapter 26 in Serbia's accession application.
Vucic stated that while Serbians "don't hate anyone, we don't want fight with anyone," "we will never be that country, state or nation that will be humiliated by any country. I repeat to everyone in the neighbourhood, Europe and world: You will never tread on or humiliate Serbia, we will never let you do that."
Vucic said of his early exit, "I haven't renounced Serbia's will to join the EU, I simply showed our core values and stood behind them." He went on to say that "in the meantime we will continue our cooperation with the EU, of course, but also we won't hide, but improve our cooperation with China and Russia."
Vucic was in Brussels for a meeting with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and was intending to take part in the intergovernmental conference on Serbia's EU accession (IGC) on Tuesday. Croatia blocked the opening of Chapter 26, which covers education and culture, on the grounds that issues related to Serbia's Croat community and the return of cultural goods were allegedly being overlooked.
