Anti-immigration protesters gathered in Calais despite French police issuing a ban on the demonstration, Sunday. The event was organised in part by the group 'Saving Calais,' with organisation leader Kevin Rouche accusing the French government of hiding the true figures of migrants residing in the port town. The number of migrants and refugees in Calais has risen to over 2,500 in 2015, with many attempting to seek asylum in the United Kingdom. French NGO 'L'Auberge des Migrants' slammed the treatment of the migrants in April, branding the largest camp in Calais known locally as 'The Jungle' as among the "worst" in the world. French police cleared make-shift camps in Calais and the French capital of Paris earlier in the week, evicting hundreds of migrants from the areas targeted.
