Clashes erupted in Santiago, Friday, after thousands of fans flooded the Plaza Italia in the Chilean capital's city centre to celebrate their country's 5-0 thrashing of Bolivia, ensuring the tournament hosts top their Copa America group and securing their place in the first knock out round. Police used water cannon to disperse fans that were throwing missiles and setting off flares. Several arrests are reported to have been made, including fans who purportedly were attempting to rob tourists who were in attendance at the match. Charles Aranguiz scored the first goal after just three minutes of play before Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez double the lead with a diving header seven minutes before half time. Aranguiz completed his brace to make it 3-0 before Gary Medel netted the fourth goal with 11 minutes left on the clock. Bolivia defender Ronald Raldes scored an own goal in the 86th minute making it 5-0 to top off a bad night for his nation. Friday's match was Juventus and Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal's first game back after he crashed his Ferrari while drink-driving on Tuesday.
