Macedonia: Fountain’s water dyed ‘blood’ red in anti-government protest

The water in a fountain in Skopje’s Macedonia Square was coloured red on Tuesday, in protest against Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov. The anti-government activists who organised the action stated that the red colour symbolises the victims of the political regime.
The demonstrations, which began on April 12, erupted following Ivanov's decision to abolish an ongoing wiretapping investigation. Ivanov confirmed that pardons would be issued for a total of 56 people from both the ruling coalition of VMRO DPMNE and DUI as well as members of opposition parties.
