Air Force General: Iran Sanctions Relief Increases Threat

Air Force Gen. Paul Selva, nominated to be vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on Tuesday that immediate or sequential sanctions relief for Iran will give it more economic resources to fund terrorist groups, “if it chooses to do so.”
His remarks at his confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee follow the announcement of a nuclear deal with Iran that would put limits on its nuclear program in return for sanctions relief. The general said, “we need to have a range of available options with which to respond” to possible threats from Iran.
