SOT, Anton Chupkov, Russian swimmer (Russian): "We trained really hard and I think we could not show any other performance [but win]."
Two Russian bronze medallists of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics were honoured, Sunday, at the Russian Team Fans House.
Evgeni Rylov, who had won men's 200m breaststroke swimming, and Anton Chupkov, who had become third in the final swim in men's 200m backstroke, appeared on the stage in front of the Russian fans to get their round of applause and perform the Russian national anthem.
When speaking to the press, Rylov said "I have always dreamed of that.”
His teammate Chupkov added, "The competition is getting tougher from year to year. Even some Olympic champions fail to qualify into finals or semi-finals. So from year to year it's getting more and more difficult."
The two 19 year old athletes visited the Russian Team Fans House, located on Rio's legendary Copacapana beach, on their way to the airport before departing to Russia.
