Finnish President Sauli Niinisto described the talks between US President Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin as "positive", speaking at a press conference in Helsinki, Monday.
"I think that the main message from Helsinki seems to be that these two leaders are prepared to continue discussion on several different difficult issues. And if that is the case, well, I consider this as a positive," said Niinisto.
"We have to keep in mind that we all have been pointing out that in spite of everything, the dialogue is needed. Now there is a dialogue. I hope that it continues, and hope that they will also find some answers to those difficult questions put forward today," the president added.
Niinisto's remarks followed the end of the historic summit between Putin and Trump.
Two leaders discussed a range of international issues and bilateral relations, in particular, the alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 US elections, Syria, Ukraine, NATO and US economic sanctions.
