Thousands of Muscovites celebrated the second anniversary of the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation in Moscow, Friday, with a public 'We are Together' concert next to the Kremlin.
The high-point was a video message from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who thanked the crowd and marked the day by calling the reunification "historic justice." Among the well-known singers taking part was Iosif Kobzon.
Concert goers waved Russian flags and posters of Putin while some bore patriotic slogans including 'Russia and Crimea are together forever.'
The public concert is one of a number of events being held between March 16-18 to mark the anniversary of the Crimean referendum and eventual reunification with Russia. Crimea was officially incorporated into the Russian Federation on March 21, when the Russian Federation Council adopted the Treaty on Accession of the Republic of Crimea to Russia.
