Former Greek Finance Minister Yannis Varoufakis visited Paris on Saturday, to send a message of "solidarity" to the anti-labour reform 'Nuit Debout' movement and its supporters.
After his speech in front of the movement's supporters, Varoufakis gave a statement to local media about his opinion on the refugee crisis, saying "when people knock on your door in the middle of the night and they are scared, they have children, they are frightened." He emphasised "what you do is you open your door and you let them in, and you do not do a cost-benefit-analysis."
He went on to slam European politicians saying "you do not go to bed metaphorically with the president of a country that is refusing to sign international treaties on the proper treatment of refugees," adding that "Europe is rich enough and it is large enough to deal with the refugee issues in a way that is humane and that does not jeopardise our integrity, our humanity and our rationality."
