Malaysia Launches Rescue Operation for Stranded Refugees

Malaysia launched a search-and-rescue operation on Thursday to aid thousands of people still stranded on boats in the Andaman Sea. Those aboard are mostly Rohingya refugees and migrants fleeing persecution in their home country of Myanmar. Many have been at sea for weeks on packed fishing boats, with limited access to food and water. It's a crisis made worse by the fact that Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia were originally turning back boats that entered their waters.
