Around 7,500 police officers filled the Place Vendome in Paris, where the Justice Ministry is located, to stage a protest demanding better working conditions, Wednesday. The demonstration was called by all police unions operating in France. Protesters waved flags, played drums and chanted slogans; protesting what they see as a lack of resources - a situation whichm they say, puts them in danger while they perform their job on the streets. The protest comes one week after a prisoner who was granted a brief out-of-jail permit seriously wounded a policeman in a shootout in Seine-Saint-Denis, on the northern edge of Paris. Apart from the French capital, rallies were also organised in other parts of the country.
