Turkish Coast Guard members located a small floating raft off the coast of Turkey's Canakkale province over the weekend which contained a 10-month-old baby drifting over half a mile out to sea. Local media reported that the child was pulled out to sea by strong winds and a heavy current just when her parents had turned their heads for a second. Once the parents realized, several failed attempts were made to rescue the child from the beach, but ended in failure and a quick call to the Coast Guard.
