Russia: Recently returned ISS crew pay tribute to legendary cosmonaut Yuri Garagin

A crew of cosmonauts who had recently returned from the International Space Station (ISS) paid tribute to cosmonaut legend Yuri Garagin, in Star City on Friday. The crew consisted of the first Dane and first Kazakh in space; Andreas Mogensen and Aidyn Aimbetov as well as flight commander cosmonaut Gennady Padalka. Representatives of Roscosmos, Kazkosmos, guests, relatives of the astronauts and cosmonauts were all present to watch the ISS crew as they laid flowers at the monument to Gagarin. During a press conference the cosmonaut predicted that “Russia will be on a par with our partners to work in the study of outer space, in the flights that are planned for 2030, 2035, including missions to Mars." Padalka praised “the wisdom of our leaders” in making sure that the “political events that have taken place over the last two years (like the sanctions and anti-sanctions) did not impinge on the ISS project.”
