The Russian Air Force carried out bombing raids on militant positions located in the Latakia Governorate between Saturday and Sunday. Footage released by the Russian Ministry of Defence shows the moment of impact of the guided KAB-500 bombs. Artillery pieces were reportedly deployed by opposition fighters at the target sites. The Russian Air Force hit 51 Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) targets in Syria over the past 24 hours, Defence Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said on Sunday. Targets included four command posts, six arms depots, a mortar battery, two underground bunkers, 32 field camps and six outposts. Russian bombs also struck underground infrastructure in Homs, which had allowed opposition fighters to move undetected, and engage government forces with greater effectiveness.
