10.08.2016
The Brazilian Senate voted in favour of holding an impeachment trial for suspended Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff in Brasilia, Wednesday, with 58 voting for and 22 against and no abstentions.
On August 4 the Special Committee of the Impeachment approved a report presented by Senator Antonio Anastasia against Rousseff, recommending that the suspended President should face trial.
As a majority of the senators have voted to proceed with the impeachment trial, Rousseff will be suspended from office for 180 days. If Rousseff is convicted, Vice-President Michel Temer will serve as president until the end of 2018.
