Vilnius airport embraced the festive season in a peculiar way with a Christmas tree made of items prohibited on flights, which were confiscated from travellers, such as scissors, knives, lighters, bullets and blades. Footage filmed in the Lithuanian capital on Friday, shows the alternative Christmas tree.
The 1.5-metre-tall (5 ft) tree features green scissors as branches, and pocketknives, water pistols, lighters and other confiscated items instead of baubles. The tree has been made as a reminder for passengers of prohibited item which they are not allowed to pack in their luggage.
In a social media post, Lithuanian Airports explained that the tree aims at sending "an educational message on the importance of aviation security" and encouraged passengers to check their baggage requirements.
