The now former goalkeeper of Real Madrid, Iker Casillas, said goodbye to the clubs supporters during a press conference in the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday. As a Madrid youth player, Casillas first donned the white jersey 25 years ago and is considered a club legend. He assured Real supporters he would try to be an "ambassador" for Los Blancos wherever he plies his trade. President of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, also spoke at the press conference, saying he understands Casillas' decision to leave the club after two years of immense "pressure." Casillas also took to the field of the Bernabeu to bid farewell to hundreds of supporters who turned out to see him off, waving to the crowd and posing for a photograph with club trophies. Casillas made 725 appearances for Real Madrid after he made his debut against Athletic Bilbao on September 12, 1999, with the match ending in a 2-2 draw. His illustrious career saw him go on to win five La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and two Copa del Rey trophies. He will head to Portugal next season to begin the next chapter of his career for FC Porto.
