Turkey: Ankara mayor sued over giant robot 'Transformers' statue

A statue resembling a ‘Transformer’ in Ankara has caused the TMMOB (Turkish Chamber of Architects and Engineers) to file a criminal complaint against the city’s Mayor Melih Gokcek, on Wednesday. The TTMOB believe that the metal-polyester statue represents the Mayor wasting tax-payers money and have urged the Gokcek to reveal the cost of each statue. The statue is one of twenty that have been erected in and around AnkaPark, a new theme park commissioned by Gokcek. The Mayor has described the theme park as a “prestige project”. 19 other robot statues are to be unveiled in and around the park, in view to promote the AnkaPark to tourists and locals alike.
