Thousands of members of the All Workers Military Front (PAME) took part in a demonstration in Athens on Friday evening to protest against the EU policies that Syriza have adopted in Greece, on the same day as the Euro-Med summit in the capital.
The protesters marched from Omonoia Square to Syntagma, chanting anti-capitalist slogans. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece, Dimitris Kustumbas, was scathing of the Greek Prime minister, stating, "A man is known by the company he keeps and Mr. Tsipras's company make their own people bleed in their countries with anti-popular measures they take, just like the Greek government does. I have nο illusions that the EU can become better with a summit of the southerners or any Declaration of Athens."
The EUMed summit took place over the course of Friday in the city; it was a meeting of leaders from Southern European countries to put Mediterranean issues on the EU agenda.
