A 'half-blood moon' lit up the Geneva sky on Tuesday night during a partial lunar eclipse, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the start of Apollo 11th's historic moon landing.
Locals could be seen taking photos of the spectacular moon, which glowed with a golden hue.
The celestial event began at 22:00 local time (20:0 GMT) and reached its maximum around 23:30 (21:30 GMT).
The moon passed behind the earth and into its shadow, appearing to be a red colour - hence the 'blood moon' tag.
The partial eclipse will be visible over Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and South America.
The event occurs on the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11's launch. The voyage ended four days later when US astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first man to step on to the Moon's surface.
