"My goal wasn't to break the Polish government," said Polish blogger Zbigniew Stonoga during an interview with a Superstacja TV journalist in Warsaw, Thursday. Stonoga, whose publication of documents concerning an investigation into a wiretapping scandal led to the resignation of Poland's health, treasury and sports ministers, as well as parliament speaker, on Wednesday, called the resignations a "catastrophe." He went on to explain that the purpose of the publication was to simply "draw attention" to "the fact that Polish authorities are not focused on Poland being a state of law." The scandal originated when the four politicians were secretly taped during private meetings in a Warsaw restaurant during 2013 and 2014. The ministers could be heard making jokes comparing the country's relationship with the U.S. as like giving oral sex for nothing in return, while ordering expensive wine, and criticising colleagues and foreign leaders. An investigation was subsequently launched. The scandal came to the fore again recently when Stonoga published the leaked documents from an investigation into the bugging.
