One of Russia's top generals announced in Moscow on Wednesday that the Russian Navy launched "26 cruise missiles" from the Caspian Sea on the day, hitting Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and Jabhat al-Nusra targets. Colonel-General Andrei Kartapolov said that a variety of militant positions, bases and training centres "in the provinces of Raqqa, Idlib and Aleppo" were hit. He specifically referred to "ammunition and explosive device plants, command posts, arms and fuel depots and militant training bases." General Kartapolov also expressed regret on not receiving any feedback on the suggestion of sharing coordinates with foreign partners. According to him "this means that either our partners do not have these coordinates, or they do not want us to strike these targets for some reason." A total of four Russian Navy warships - the "Dagestan," "Sviyazhsk," "Uglich" and "Great Ustyug" - launched the airstrikes on Wednesday.
