Belarus: Medvedev meets with his EEU counterparts to discuss trade ties

Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev met with his counterparts from the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) to discuss trade and economic measures in a session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, in Minsk, on Thursday.
The Prime Ministers of the EEU member states, including Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, are expected to complete work on a new Customs Code. Following the meeting, the Customs Code is to be put forward for adoption by the Heads of State and Governments Summit, which is scheduled for the end of the year.
The participants are also set to discuss a draft of an agreement on the establishment of the control mechanism over movement of goods which are under special economic measures and reduced import customs duties rates. The prime ministers are also expected to approve the draft of the EEU 2017 budget as well as certain aspects of commercial policy, including anti-dumping measures.
Later this week, Medvedev is scheduled to attend a meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council, which is set to focus on the development of trade, economic and industrial cooperation, humanitarian ties and food security.
