At least 12 Palestinians were injured by Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) after huge clashes between protesters and Israeli troops erupted in Bethlehem, Tuesday. Israeli soldiers and military vehicles fired tear gas canisters at the Palestinians, while Palestinian activists armed with sling-shots and many with their faces covered in keffiyehs, threw stones at the soldiers and IDF vehicles. Activists also built barricades using containers and tyres and set them on fire. At least 45 Palestinians and eight Israelis have died since October 1 in the latest round of violence in the region, which has witnessed the Occupied Palestinian Territories erupting over rising political tensions over the al-Aqsa mosque, as well as the continued construction of illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian land.
