Russian President Vladimir Putin and his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in made a joint press statement following a meeting in Moscow on Friday, revealing that a statement on the creation of a free trade zone has been signed.
The Russian president noted that “important agreements have been reached on the further expansion of Russian-South Korean cooperation, which have been named in the joint statement.”
He also added that South Korea is an important partner of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region.
“Relations between our countries are multidimensional and are being built on the neighbourhood principle, mutual benefits and consideration of each other's interests,” Putin said.
His South Korean counterpart agreed, saying that he is happy that two countries will now start the procedures to allow them commence negotiations on creating the free trade zone in terms of services and investment, saying that all initiatives aim to improve the well-being of citizens.
