Ukraine's Central Election Commission (CEC) announced on Monday that the party of president Volodymir Zelensky was leading the parliamentary poll with nearly half of the votes counted. "Servant of the People" secured more than 42 percent of ballots.
Zelensky's party is followed by the pro-Russian party Opposition Platform for Life with 12.8 percent and the party of former president Petro Poroshenko European Solidarity with 8.7 percent.
The election turnout was 50.35 per cent, according to the CEC, and final election results are expected to be announced within 15 days.
Ukraine's Internal Affairs Ministry said 71 criminal cases were opened due to election violations across the country.
