Germany: Thousands rejoice as Bavarian Oktoberfest begins in Munich

Munich's beer-swilling Oktoberfest kicked-off in the Bavarian capital, Saturday, with thousands of visitors from all over the world enjoying the first day of the festival. While thousands were drinking beer in the tents and beer gardens, many others took rides at the fun fair. The traditional Bavarian celebration of Oktoberfest will host 606 companies with 16 tents, beer and food caterers, showmen, fun rides and merchants. About 13,000 people were employed for the two-week event. More than six million visitors are expected to celebrate the world's largest outdoor beer event.
