Australian police conducted a series of coordinated "anti-terrorism raids" in Sydney on Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a police officer outside a police building in Parramatta on Friday. NSW Police Force Deputy Commissioner Catherine Burns confirmed that four male suspects aged between 16 and 24 years were arrested. "Today with the four search warrants we have also detained four people in relation to the ongoing investigation," she said. The suspects were taken to various police stations across Sydney and are being questioned. She also called for "calm" as well as "vigilance" from members of the community. Australian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner Neil Gaughan said such crimes have an "impact" on people living in Australia; and Australian authorities intend to work "very closely" with international partners in relation to this type of crime. At least 200 police officers from the Counter Terrorism and Special Tactics Command, Australian Federal Police and Tactical Operations Unit participated in Wednesday's operation.
