Three children were killed amid shelling in a residential area of Tripoli on Tuesday, according to a Health Ministry spokesperson.
Footage filmed in the aftermath shows damaged vehicles.
According to Health Ministry information adviser Ameen Hashemi, two children were killed at the scene and a third died from his injuries in the hospital.
"There is nothing related to the military or any military involvement here, we are far away from everything, this is a civilian neighbourhood, we only ask for protection," said a resident of the area where the shelling took place.
The UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) blamed the Libyan National Army (LNA) for the attack, although the latter did not claim responsibility.
Fighting has been taking place around the Libyan capital since the LNA, which controls much of Libya's east and parts of the south, first launched an offensive to gain control of Tripoli from the GNA in April.
