Germany: Trial of Russian Imam with alleged IS links starts in Berlin

The trial of a Russian Imam, accused of promoting the so-called Islamic State (IS/formerly ISIS/ISIL) began in the Berlin courthouse (Kammergericht), on Thursday.
The 30-year-old was arrested in October 2015, before which he was reportedly an Imam at a Berlin mosque.
The prosecution will argue that the accused produced and uploaded a video to YouTube in November 2014, wherein which he purportedly praises IS. Furthermore, the defendant is alleged to have given an interview in May 2015, where he justified the murder, by IS, of a Jordanian pilot and an US American journalist.
