Denmark: Anti-poverty campaigners protest 'Black Wednesday' in Copenhagen

14.09.2016
A small group of protesters gathered outside Copenhagen's City Hall, located in the town square, on Wednesday to demonstrate against what is known as "Black Wednesday", leading a short march through the city centre.
Claus Jannson spoke at the event stating, "The absolute lowest minded common denominator for empathy should be when adult people with political influence, implement, sanction or legitimise governmental abuse on children."
"Black Wednesday" is the day when many Copenhagen social security recipients received new calculations for their benefits and housing subsidies, many of whom may be at risk of losing out on some or all of the benefits. Some participants decided to walk to Stork Fountain and back, to drum up support.
