An unusual owl-shaped unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) debuted at the Army-2019 military expo in Moscow on Tuesday.
The vehicle was developed by Russia’s air force academy and is meant for to be used in military intelligence.
One of the UAV’s developers, lieutenant colonel Alexander Shubin, explained that the drone can “also be used by ornithologists. We have two types of these UAVs – polar owl and a saker falcon,”
The lieutenant colonel added that the drone can be used for up to 30 minutes with a maximum speed of 60 kilometres per hour.
The Army-2019 international military and technical forum has kicked off on June 25 and runs until June 30. Over 100 delegations from 14 different countries are taking part in the event.
