Tributes began to pour in at the house of Russian singer Zhanna Friske in Moscow, Tuesday, just one day after the famous artist lost her battle with brain cancer. Friske, aged 40, was diagnosed with cancer in January 2014 and struggled against the disease for more than a year, often travelling abroad for treatment. Outside of Russia, the singer was best known for her role in the sci-fi blockbuster Night Watch. Having launched her career in 1996, she was well known in her native country, achieving a series of hits with songs such as 'Portofino.' She left behind her one-year-old son and civil partner, the well-known TV presenter Dmitry Shepelev. There is to be a memorial ceremony held on Wednesday for colleagues and members of the public to pay their last respects before the funeral on Thursday.
